From July 25 to August 28 major road closures will be in effect from Mineola Road to Hurontario Street.

Reasons behind this closure surround construction initiatives related to the Hazel McCallion Line project, a major Metrolinx project aiming to connect Mississauga and Brampton — which will be taking its first steps towards completion this summer.

According to information provided by Metrolinx, the Hazel McCallion Line will be an 18-kilometre and 19-stop light rail service that will run from the Port Credit GO station to the Brampton Gateway Terminal. As a result, municipal construction crews will be overhauling the concrete layout from Mineola Road to Hurontario Street in anticipation of track installation later this year.

New metrolinx construction

Metrolinx officials have listed numerous detours for those impacted by this construction.

Upcoming detours for eastbound traffic along Mineola Road will be available via Woodland Avenue, Inglewood Drive, Oriole Avenu and Eaglewood Boulevard at a newly installed signalized intersection to cross Hurontario Street.

As for westbound traffic, detours for Mineola Road will be available via Broadmoor Avenue, Windy Oaks, Crossfield Bend, and Eaglewood Boulevard at the new signalized intersection to cross Hurontario Street.

Construction is anticipated to run seven days a week from 7 am to 10 pm for the initial July to August timeline.

Additional information on the Hazel McCallion Line can be found on the official Metrolinx website.
