Major road closed due to serious crash in Mississauga

A road closure is in effect following a collision that was reported at 2:47 p.m. this afternoon.

Police say two vehicles were involved in a crash at Dixie Rd and Winding Trail, near Burnhamthorpe Rd East.

One adult male has been transported to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.

Northbound and southbound lanes on Dixie are shut down between Burnhamthorpe and Winding Trail.

Residents are asked to take alternate routes until further notice.

UPDATE: The male has succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead, police confirmed at 4:23 p.m.

The Major Collision Bureau has taken carriage of this investigation.
