Leon’s in Burlington is back in business.
The retail furniture store is back up and running after a torrential downpour on Monday (July 15) flooded the showroom and forced its closure.
The business, located at 3167 North Service Road, opened back up to customers on Wednesday (July 17).
“There was no damage to the store caused by the flooding,” Leon’s media representative Thalia Policicchio told INhalton.com.
The freak rainstorm that began at noon on Monday dumped over 75mm of rain in just over 24 hours and caused havoc throughout the city, closing roads and intersections, as well as multiple businesses.
The flooding caused damage across the city and in one neighbourhood near Upper Middle Road and Brant Street, close to Highway 407, residents had to be evacuated from their homes over concerns that pooling water could lead to injuries from electricity and natural gas issues.
Leon’s was forced to close just a couple of hours after the rainstorm when rising water entered the building and began pooling up in the showroom.
