American Airlines flights were delayed out of Toronto Pearson Airport in Mississauga and across North America just ahead of Christmas.
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration initiated a ground stop for all American Airlines flights on Tuesday morning, according to multiple news reports.
American Airlines reportedly requested the ground stop for all its flights due to a “technical issue.”
Around 8 a.m., the issue had been reportedly resolved.
The airline responded to multiple customers on social media.
“We’re currently experiencing a technical issue with all American Airlines flights,” the airline wrote on X around 6:40 a.m. “Your safety is our utmost priority, once this is rectified, we’ll have you safely on your way to your destination.”
Pearson Airport officials noted flights were impacted.
“An American Airlines technical issue briefly impacted its flights this morning,” Pearson said on X. “The system is back up, but passengers flying with American Airlines might see some impacts throughout the day.”
Pearson Airport departures board online showed American Airlines flights were delayed Tuesday morning.
