A low-cost bus service is adding new routes in Ontario.
FlixBus, a German bus company that has expanded to North America, is continuing to add routes and increase the frequency of existing routes in Ontario.
Recently FlixBus announced service to cottage country from Toronto and Pearson Airport in Mississauga.
Beginning this Friday, April 19, FlixBus will connect Kitchener directly to Ottawa, Windsor, Kingston and Detroit, FlixBus said in a press release.
Additionally, FlixBus will now offer three daily routes between Peterborough and Toronto and Ottawa, as well as up to seven daily rides between Kingston and Toronto.
In addition to the new routes, FlixBus will also connect Peterborough to Pearson Airport. The price to Peterborough currently starts at just over $20 for a one-way ticket. A one-way ticket from Pearson to Ottawa is around $47.
The number of routes between Toronto and Ottawa has increased to nine. Ottawa passengers can choose between Pearson, Mississauga, Union Station, Scarborough and Whitby in the Toronto metro area as a pickup location.
With the addition of these routes, FlixBus now connects over 20 cities in Ontario.
“We are excited to continue expanding our network in Ontario and providing travellers with more options to reach their destinations,” said Richard Szeri, senior manager of network planning for FlixBus. “We’re especially excited to be able to connect students at Waterloo and Queens University with their hometowns.
FlixBus buses are equipped with free Wi-Fi, power outlets and onboard entertainment.
FlixBus filled a gap after Greyhound Canada permanently suspended operations in May 2021. Greyhound continues to operate and offers service from U.S. destinations to Canada.
Canadians can book both Greyhound and FlixBus rides on the FlixBus website and mobile apps.
