Mississauga schools in lockdown.

UPDATE: Police said shortly before 1 p.m. that the student reported to have been armed with a pellet gun has been located and all school lockdowns and partial lockdowns have been lifted.

A west Mississauga high school has been locked down and two nearby elementary schools placed in partial lockdown as police respond to reports of a student with a pellet gun.

The Woodlands Secondary School, located on Erindale Station Road two blocks north of Dundas Street West, was placed in lockdown shortly after noon, Peel Regional Police said.

McBride Avenue Public School and St. John XXIII Elementary School were placed in hold-and-secure mode, a level of alert just below a full lockdown, as a precaution.

All three schools are located in the same neighbourhood just west of Dundas Street West and Mavis Road.

Police said in a post to social media they responded to reports “of a student with a pellet gun off-site” and officers were still searching for the young person as of 12:30 p.m.

No injuries have been reported, according to police.

A lockdown means all doors to the school are locked and teachers and students must remain inside their classrooms until the threat has been resolved.
