Lockdown at Pearson Airport in Mississauga

Pearson Airport in Mississauga was placed on lockdown for 18 minutes this morning (April 20) as authorities dealt with a “low-level security issue.”

A spokesperson with the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA), which operates Pearson, said in an email to insauga.com that “the security incident at Terminal 1 has been resolved after 18 minutes and normal operations have resumed. We thank passengers for their patience as we put their safety first.”
A post on Toronto Reddit, appearing to be from a passenger on board a plane preparing for takeoff just before 9 a.m., reported that they had just been “informed by our captain, while sitting at the gate, that there has been a ‘domestic security breach’ at Pearson…”
The situation was reportedly dealt with and cleared by 9:10 a.m.
