Loaded gun found by police after assault in Mississauga

A Toronto man faces multiple charges after an assault in Mississauga led police to the recovery of a loaded gun and an amount of suspected cocaine.
Peel Regional Police said the assault of a woman last Sunday in which she suffered minor injuries led investigators with the force’s Intimate Partner Violence Unit to an arrest on Monday.
At that time, a loaded gun and one kilogram of a drug believed to be cocaine were recovered by police.
Dwayne Carter Noel, 21, of Toronto, is charged with:
- possession of firearm knowing it is unauthorized
- possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
- assault
- strangulation
- possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
- breach of recognizance
He was held for a bail hearing.
