Loaded gun found by police after assault in Mississauga

Man charged guns and drugs intimate partner violence in Mississauga.

A Toronto man faces multiple charges after an assault in Mississauga led police to the recovery of a loaded gun and an amount of suspected cocaine.

Peel Regional Police said the assault of a woman last Sunday in which she suffered minor injuries led investigators with the force’s Intimate Partner Violence Unit to an arrest on Monday.

At that time, a loaded gun and one kilogram of a drug believed to be cocaine were recovered by police.

Dwayne Carter Noel, 21, of Toronto, is charged with:

  • possession of firearm knowing it is unauthorized
  • possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
  • assault
  • strangulation
  • possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • breach of recognizance

He was held for a bail hearing.
