A Mississauga man faces numerous firearm and other charges after police seized a loaded gun during a traffic stop in the city’s north end late Monday afternoon.

A loaded Glock 33 compact firearm was recovered by Peel Regional Police officers after they stopped a vehicle in the area of Hurontario Street and Matheson Boulevard at about 5:30 p.m., police said.

Initially, the driver tried to flee in the vehicle from police, but was stopped a short time later, Peel police told INsauga.com.

Officers involved in the seizure are members of the 11 Division Community Incident Response Team, which proactively patrols areas of the city in search of specific types of crimes and offenders.

Terrence Warner, 23, of Mississauga, faces a rash of charges, including:

  • possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
  • unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
  • flight from peace officer
  • dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • possession of a controlled substance

He was held for a bail hearing in Brampton court.
