Loaded gun and drugs seized during vehicle search in Brampton

A Toronto man is facing drug and firearm-related charges following an incident in Brampton.

At 12:39 a.m. on Thursday, August 3, Peel Regional Police officers investigated a vehicle in the area of Highway 50 and Cottrelle Boulevard.

Police say officers seized a loaded CZ P-07 handgun and a large quantity of cannabis and meth.

Toronto man Henock Habte, 23, was arrested.

He is facing several charges including possession of a loaded, prohibited or restricted firearm, careless storage of a firearm, possession of methamphetamines for the purpose of trafficking, and driving a vehicle with cannabis readily available.

Habte was held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
