Learn to fight fires at Blaze Fire Academy for youth in Burlington, Oakville, Milton

The fire departments of Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Halton Hills have exciting news for youth in Halton Region.

Registration for Blaze Fire Academy, a youth camp offering first-hand experience into all aspects of the fire service, is now accepting online applications.

Blaze Academy continues to provide opportunities to inspire “Fire Services for All”.

The first camp, July 10 and 11, is open to all youth ages 15 to 18. The second camp, Aug. 14 and 15, is open to young women, ages 15 to 18.

The online application process closes June 13.

Up to 24 participants will be selected for each of the camps, which are held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fire Training Campus in Oakville.

The immersive training includes:

  • Fire dispatch
  • Search and rescue
  • Auto extrication
  • Medical
  • Forcible entry and roof operations
  • Fire hydrant competition
  • Firefighter survival
  • Fire prevention and education
  • Information session about fire service education, courses and certification
  • Graduation ceremony
