The Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) starts today in Toronto and fair-goers can catch a late-night GO Train to get home to Mississauga, Burlington or Oakville.
The 144th annual CNE runs from today (Aug. 18) to Sept. 4 at Exhibition Place in Toronto. The Ex features a midway — including the “SuperWheel” a 150-foot Ferris wheel, food, concerts, an air show, a nightly drone show, exhibits and more.
The grounds are open daily from 10 a.m. to midnight, except on Labour Day when the CNE wraps up at 9 p.m.
Those hoping to stay late for a concert or just to enjoy the midway can catch a GO Train.
Metrolinx says it is adding late-night trips – that usually only run on Friday and Saturday. The late-night service will run all week for Lakeshore East and West Line customers during the CNE, Metrolinx said in a press release.
The last train leaving from Exhibition Station is 12:51 a.m. arriving at Aldershot at 1:51 a.m. but travellers should check for delays or changes on the GO Transit website before planning a trip.
There are also additional trains added to the Stouffville and Barrie Lines for the Ex.
In addition, veterans and a companion can ride GO and UP free to and from the CNE for the Warriors’ Day Parade this Saturday (Aug. 19).
Immediate family members of deceased veterans may also ride for free if carrying something to identify their relation to the late veteran, such as service papers or identification card.
