Poor time management was no excuse for a Brampton driver clocked going almost double the speed limit in a 100 km/h zone, police say.

The high-speed traffic stop happened on Monday when the OPP says officers from the Middlesex detachment on patrol spotted a speeder on Highway 401 in Thames Centre, approximately 18 kilometres west of London.

The 28-year-old driver from Brampton was clocked travelling at 192 km/h in a posted 100 km/h zone according to police, and the driver reportedly told police they needed to be at work in a hurry.

The OPP says the Brampton driver was charged with multiple offences under the Highway Traffic Act including a stunting charge, careless driving, and had no valid permit at the time of the traffic stop.

“Being late for work does not give you the right to travel at nearly double the posted speed limit,” police said in a post on social media.

Police say the driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days and the vehicle has been impounded for 14 days.
