This week’s full moon will be the last supermoon for nearly a year.

November’s full moon reaches peak illumination this Friday, Nov. 15. It is the fourth and final consecutive supermoon this year. The first was a rare supermoon blue moon on Aug. 19, there was a Harvest supermoon on Sept. 17 and the super bright Hunter’s Moon on Oct. 17.

The final supermoon of the year is the Beaver moon on Friday, Nov. 15.

Astrologer Richard Nolle coined the term “supermoon” in 1979, NASA says on its website. The full moon is considered a supermoon within 90 per cent of its closest approach to Earth.

Supermoons appear approximately 30 per cent brighter and 14 per cent larger than usual, Space.com writes on their website. Although, this is sometimes difficult to see with the naked eye.

The full moon will rise in the GTA at 4:26 p.m., according to Time and Date.

Environment and Climate Change Canada is forecasting clear skies on Nov. 15 but bring a jacket. The lows for Friday evening dip down to 3 C.

The next supermoon will be in October 2025.
