Multiple lane and ramp closures on the QEW in Mississauga in addition to nearby road restrictions are all part of the mix for the next four weeks as crews continue working on the highway bridge over the Credit River.

The closures include four lanes of the QEW that will shut down each night/overnight through Sept. 15.

Two westbound lanes between Hurontario St. and Erin Mills Pkwy. and a pair of eastbound lanes from Erin Mills Pkwy. to the Credit River Bridge will be closed at various times at night and overnight until mid-September, according to officials with the QEW/Credit River Improvement Project overseeing the major bridge rehabilitation work.

The lane closures, which will be in effect seven days a week, will take place between as early as 10 p.m. in the evenings and as late as 8 a.m. the following mornings.

However, there will be no lane closures over the Labour Day weekend.

Meanwhile, the QEW eastbound off-ramp to South Sheridan Way and South Sheridan Way, between the eastbound off-ramp and Indian Grove, will be impacted all of this week through Friday (Aug. 25).

Officials say the highway off-ramp and on-ramp at South Sheridan Way will be impacted from midnight until 5 a.m. each night.

South Sheridan Way will have a single lane shut down from Tuesday night at 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Project leaders say two-way traffic will be maintained under flagging conditions.

In addition, officials remind motorists and residents that direct access to the eastbound QEW from Mississauga Rd. will remain closed until Sept. 16 at 5 a.m.

During the closure, local access to the eastbound lanes of the major highway will be available via the South Sheridan Way on-ramp, officials say.

Temporary nighttime/overnight closures have been commonplace since last fall both on the QEW and nearby roads due to the massive project that began two years ago.

More traffic disruptions are anticipated as work continues in the coming months. Night and weekend work along the 2.6-km stretch of the QEW from Hurontario St. to Mississauga Rd. is expected to impact traffic for the duration of the project.
