Labour Day Monday Sept. 2 Mississauga: What’s Open & Closed

Labour Day in Mississauga falls on Monday, September 2, 2024.

The early September holiday originally came about as a way to give workers the chance to campaign for better working conditions and pay. However, these days, it’s part of a long weekend during which you can relax. 

Here’s what’s open and closed in Mississauga this Labour Day 2024:

Open: 

• Square One Shopping Centre is open from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm 
• Walmart Supercentre will be open at Square One from 10 am to 7:00 pm 
• The Food District at Square One 
• The Rec Room at Square One 
• Whole Foods Market Square One (8 am to 7 pm)
• Celebration Square and the Celebration Square fountain 
• Rabba grocery stores 
• T&T grocery store 
• Most Shoppers Drug Marts 
• The Beer Store locations at 1550 Dundas St. E., 5800 McLaughlin Rd. and 3154 Hurontario St. (all open 11 am – 6 pm) 
• Wine Rack
• Most restaurants, but call ahead to be sure  
• Mississauga Chinese Centre 
• Movie theatres

Closed: 

• Most major grocery stores 
• Most major malls in and outside of Mississauga, including Erin Mills Town Centre, Dixie Outlet Mall, Heartland Town Centre and Sherway Gardens  
• Government offices 

• City Hall 
• Banks 
• Libraries 
• Community centres 
• Canada Post (no mail pickup or delivery) 

• LCBO (some LCBO convenience outlets may be open. Check ahead of time)
• Non-Emergency Region of Peel services including Access Peel Counters (by appointment only), Dental Services Contact Centre, Early Years and Child Care Services, Family Health Call Centre, Healthy Sexuality Clinic, Needle Exchange Program – Mobile Van, Ontario Works in Peel, Peel Living Office 

Transit:

• MiWay will operate on a Sunday schedule (check MiWay website as some routes may operate on reduced frequency)
• GO Transit will operate on a Saturday schedule 
• TransHelp: all trips for Monday, Sept. 2 and Tuesday, Sept. 3 must be booked by 7 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 1
• On Monday, Sept. 2, TransHelp will operate from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. and the TransHelp office will be closed

 Waste Collection: 

• there will be no curbside waste/recycling collection on Monday, Sept. 2. Waste will be collected one day later than usual
• all community recycling centres will be closed on Monday, Sept. 2, and will reopen the following day
