Kick off the holidays with Streetsville’s Christmas in the Village in Mississauga

This charming and historic village in the city is home to the largest number of historical buildings, holding onto its small-town heritage from over 150 years ago. During the holiday season, the quaint village of Streetsville is sure to brighten your spirit and ensure you have a holly, jolly start to Christmas, with their annual Christmas event.

Streetsville’s Christmas in the Village will be taking place on Friday, November 18 from 5 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, November 19 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. throughout Streetsville.

Local residents and visitors of Streetsville’s Christmas in the Village can expect many family-friendly events to take place, from the holiday market to free family activities and even horse-drawn carriage rides – all planned and curated to help you and your family feel the magic of the holiday season.

The tree lighting and opening ceremonies will feature Mr. and Mrs. Claus – a new highlight for this family-friendly, two-day holiday event. Guests can expect to see Mr. and Mrs. Claus ride along Queen St. South in their sleigh, being led by the Streetsville Pipes and Drums and the Legion’s Colour Party. Shortly after, the tree lighting will take place in the central spot of Streetsville at Village Square.

Here is a list of activities that you can look forward to on the evening of Friday, November 18:

  • Opening ceremonies + tree lighting with Mr. and Mrs. Claus: The opening ceremonies will take place from Kerr St. and Queen St. South to the Village Square at 7:15 p.m. You won’t want to miss it as Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be making an appearance.
  • Ice slide with toboggans on Maiden Lane: Oh what fun it is to ride… On the ice slide with toboggans on Maiden Lane! Taking place between 5 to 9 p.m.
  • Kids crafts and letters to Santa: A great way to get the little ones involved. Kids crafts and letters to Santa will be taking place between 5 to 9 p.m.
  • Selfies with Santa: This is your chance to get that annual selfie with Santa. Happening at Santa’s Village between 5 to 6:45 p.m. and between 8 to 9 p.m. Santa’s Village is sponsored by Atkinson Insurance and hosted and designed by Joanne Lipp European Skin Care & Electrolysis – two local businesses in Streetsville.

  • Holiday vendor market: Featuring over 25 local artisans curated by Hello Local. There will be complimentary Maple Taffy provided by the Streetsville Legion Branch 139. The vendor market will take place from 5 to 9 p.m.
  • Live performances: Expect to see live music by Screeched Inn, a Canadian Celtic rock group, between 6 to 9 p.m.

Here is a list of activities you can enjoy all day and throughout the evening on Saturday, November 19:

  • Ice slide with toboggans on Maiden Lane: Taking place all day between 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Maiden Lane off of Queen St. South.
  • Holiday vendor market: Featuring over 25 local artisans curated by Hello Local, taking place from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. There will also be complimentary Maple Taffy provided by the Streetsville Legion Branch 139 from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Free kids crafts and family activities: Free crafts and family activities will be taking place from Tannery St. and Queen St. South to Mill St. and Queen St. South. Happening all day from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Live performances: Expect to hear live music from 6 to 9 p.m. by Canada Roxx, a premier classic rock tribute band.

  • Holiday Express Train: From noon to 8 p.m., the Holiday Express Train (sponsored by Telus) will be offering rides along Mill St. and Queen St. South.
  • Horse drawn carriage rides: Presented by the Streetsville Lions Club. Rides will take place from 1:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday only, and will be loading up passengers at Tannery St. and Queen St. South.
  • Selfies with Santa: Happening at Santa’s Village between 3 to 9 p.m. Santa’s Village is sponsored by Atkinson Insurance and hosted and designed by Joanne Lipp European Skin Care & Electrolysis – two local businesses in Streetsville.

Local residents and visitors should note that there will be a number of weekend road closures. Road closures include:

  1. Streetsville Village Square: From Saturday, November 18 at 7 a.m. until Sunday, November 20 at 8 a.m.
  2. Maiden Lane: From Friday November 18 at 7 a.m. until Saturday, November 19 at 11 p.m.
  3. Kerr St. and Queen St. South to Queen St. South and Thomas St.: From 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday. November 18
  4. Tannery St. and Queen St. South to Queen St. South and Mill St. (North side): From 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, November 19.
