The chicken at Kentucky Fried Chicken may be “finger-lickin’ good,” the fries not so much.

After receiving criticism over the years saying they have “worst fries period,” the fast-food chain with restaurants in Mississauga, Hamilton, Oakville and Oshawa and across southern Ontario and Canada has decided to make a change from their “bland” old fries to new seasoned fries.

“We get it. Our old fries suck,” said KFC in a new advertising video campaign being shown on television and social media. “So we’re letting them rest in pieces,”

Canadians who were unable to bid their farewells in person, can tune into a live streamed funeral—an ode to the old fries— on Tuesday (Aug. 1) at 12 PM on KFCFryFuneral.com.

“We knew that Canadians hated our old fries and so we saw this as an opportunity to show our fans we hear them by changing up this menu item and launching it in a fun way,” said Azim Akhtar, Director of Marketing, KFC Canada.

“The KFC brand is all about being bold and fun. This satirical campaign allows us to introduce an exciting new product that we’re proud of, while making light of a product that wasn’t as beloved by Canadians.”

With the introduction of their seasoned fries, KFC is offering customers to try a side of their new crispier, seasoned fries for $1.
