June 29 Weather: Rain and thunderstorms for southern Ontario

The first day of the long weekend will be a wet one from start to finish in Mississauga and across southern Ontario.

Showers and a chance of a thunderstorm are expected early Saturday (June 28) morning and afternoon according to the latest weather forecast by Environment Canada.

The day will start with cloudy skies and there will be a 60 percent chance of showers early in the morning with the same expected for the afternoon. About 15 to 25 mm of rain is expected.

Winds become southwest at 20 km/h in the afternoon. A high of 25 degrees Celsius is on tap for the day, but it will be muggy and feel like 34 degrees Celsius with the humidex.

The UV index will be 6 or high.

It will be more of the same for the evening, with a 60 percent chance of showers and a risk of thunderstorms. Winds will be southwest at 20 km/h becoming light in the evening.

The overnight low of 17 degrees Celsius is expected.

There will be 15 hours and 24 minutes of daylight with sun expected to rise at 5:40 a.m. and then set at 9:04 p.m.
