The official first day of summer will play the part well in Mississauga and across southern Ontario.

The week-long heat warning continues as Thursday’s weather will be a repeat of Wednesday’s hot and humid conditions according to the latest forecast by Environment Canada.

Once again, the day will begin with a mix of sun and clouds and a 30 percent chance of showers in the afternoon with the risk of a thunderstorm. Winds will become northeast at 20 km/h in the afternoon.

Temperatures will hit a high of 31 degrees Celsius and it will be another sticky one with the Humidex at 40 degrees Celsius. Once again, be careful about the time you spent under the sun as the UV index will be 10 or very high.

The evening will find skies partly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of showers and the risk of possibly another thunderstorm.

A low of 20 degrees Celsius is expected overnight.

With this being the first day of summer, that means it will be the longest day of 2024. We will have over 15 hours and 26 minutes of sunlight as the sun will rise at 5:37 a.m. and then set at 9:03 p.m.
