Mississauga woman charged in Toronto jewelry store robbery.

An 18-year-old Mississauga woman and a Toronto man, also 18, face various charges after a jewelry store on the Toronto-Mississauga border was robbed by four culprits late Monday afternoon.

Toronto Police made the two arrests after a brief car chase in the moments following the heist that targeted a jewelry store at Cloverdale Mall, near Dundas Street West and The East Mall in west Toronto.

Police said in a news release issued Wednesday they’re still seeking two other suspects in connection with the robbery, which unfolded a few minutes before 5 p.m. when three masked culprits — one armed with a hammer — entered the store and began smashing display cases.

A fourth suspect reportedly waited outside in a stolen getaway vehicle.

According to investigators, the culprits grabbed an undisclosed amount of jewelry and then fled in the stolen car.

Moments later, responding officers spotted a vehicle near The East Mall and Eglinton Avenue West and gave chase.

“The vehicle began driving erratically until it lost control and rolled onto its side,” police said.

Officers made two arrests at the scene while two other suspects fled.

Police said they recovered some items of jewelry at the scene.

Mohammad Wahedi, 18, of Toronto, and Chris Aimable, 18, of Mississauga, are each charged with:

  • robbery with offensive weapon
  • disguise with intent
  • possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

Wahedi is additionally charged with assault with intent to resist arrest, dangerous operation of conveyance and flight while pursued by police.

Aimable is also charged with fail to comply with release order.

Both were scheduled to appear in Toronto court on Tuesday.

There are no descriptions of the other two suspects, police said.
