A late Friday night (May 10) robbery by suspects armed with hammers at a jewelry store inside Square One Shopping Centre could be related to a similar incident the day before at another Mississauga shopping mall.

Peel Regional Police are investigating if the two robberies, including one Thursday at Erin Mills Town Centre, are related after police and Square One security on foot patrol intercepted a robbery in progress at a jewelry store inside Square One shortly before 9 p.m.

“Multiple suspects, armed with hammers, entered the store and began smashing display cases in an attempt to steal jewelry,” said Cst. Ty Bell-Morena of Peel Regional Police. “As the suspects tried to flee, they were intercepted by officers and security, and three individuals have been taken into custody.”

An adult and two young offenders are now facing numerous “relevant” charges.

A video depicting a similar robbery at Erin Mills Town Centre is circulating on social media.

“The Central Robbery Bureau, alongside Criminal Investigations Bureau, is investigating both matters to determine if they’re related and if there are any suspects outstanding,” added Bell-Morena.
