Jan 21 weather: Windy and cold temperatures in southern Ontario

More chilly weather will be felt in Mississauga through Hamilton on Sunday with temperatures dipping to -19 C, before gradually warming back up.

According to Environment Canada, Sunday in Mississauga and Brampton, it will be mainly sunny with some cloud coverage. Morning temperatures will hit -10 C, but will feel much colder with wind chills going as low as -19 C.

As the afternoon approaches it will get more cloudy. Temperatures will slowly climb, rising by one degree every couple of hours until reaching -7 C.

Closer to the evening, wind speeds will pick up to 20 km/h, gusting at 40 km/h.

Meteorologist predict a 70 per cent chance—very likely—that it will snow, though the accumulation is unknown.

The cloudiness will slightly dissipate and wind speeds will lighten to 20 km/h moving southwest.

Milton and Halton Hills will be much the same, with an overnight wind chill of -15 C.

Oakville and Burlington will see less sunshine and a more cloudy day. Temperatures will reach a daytime high of -2 C with a wind chill of -16 C.  By the evening, it will become partly cloud while the wind chill will remain at a consistent -15 C.

In Hamilton, the weather is expected to be cloudy, with the winds speeds hitting  up to 40 km/h. The high is anticipated to be minus 4, with a wind chill of minus 21 in the morning and minus 10 in the afternoon.

By the evening it will be partly cloudy, with the wind calming down to 20 km/h. The low is projected to be -10 C with the temperature rising to -6 C by Monday morning. The wind chill is expected to be near -18 C.

There appears to be a brief respite from wintry conditions as temperatures are expected to rise from negative values to a high of 5 C by Friday.

Despite the warming trend, the week ahead is forecasted to bring a mix of rain and snow, accompanied by predominantly cloudy skies and minimal sunshine.
