A brand new Eataly opens this week and it’s right on the Mississauga border with Etobicoke.

The new Eataly in CF Sherway Gardens, 25 The West Mall, opens on Thursday, Nov. 2 at 3 p.m.

Eataly, founded in 2003, offers Italian dining with restaurants and cafes along with markets and educational opportunities. The Sherway location is the second in Toronto — the first opened in 2019 in Yorkville in the Manulife Centre, 55 Bloor St. W.

“Eataly reflects the most authentic experience of Italian cuisine, and Toronto shares our passion for high quality food, drink, and experience,” said Tommaso Brusò, CEO of Eataly North America.

The Sherway location is in a 25,000 square-foot space at the southeast end of the mall formerly occupied by the Pickle Barrel, which closed in September 2022.

It features two restaurants, five counters, a mozzarella lab as well a wide selection of housemade, Italian and Canadian products.

Guests can watch as fresh pizza and pasta prepared in front of them. There are open areas with seating along with a bar.

Il Pastaio features fresh pasta, a concept started at Eataly Flatiron in New York, with an open production space that allows guests to feast their eyes on pasta being made by hand by Eataly pastai – or pasta makers.

The second restaurant, La Pizza e La Pasta, guests can choose from a selection of fresh and dry pasta, or watch as the pizzaioli – pizza makers – make Neapolitan-style pizzas made-to-order in the 900 F wood-fired ovens.

The market area boasts a selection of extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar of Modena, as well as artisanal pasta di Gragnano, tomato sauce and a selection of sweets. Fresh mozzarella and fresh pasta will be made onsite, and a selection of more than 500 cheeses and cured meats will anchor a central island in the market.

The “Made in Eataly line” offers ready-to-eat, ready-to-heat and ready-to-cook products, from house-made sauces to prepared salads and family-size pasta dishes.

Eataly Sherway Gardens will also offer Eataly’s first-ever global panettone selection, which will debut in stores by mid-November.

There is a “Vino-To-Go” section featuring hundreds of labels of Italian wine from all 20 regions, including favourites like Toscana and Piemonte.

La Pasticceria, the pastry counter with a view into the onsite production kitchen, with cakes, croissants, and more baked fresh daily. La Panetteria and Pizza alla Pala is a joint counter offering a variety of bread baked in house as well as panini and Roman-style pizza alla pala.

There is also a cafe area with espresso drinks and desserts. Il Gelato Artigianale will have more than a dozen flavours of fresh gelato made with local milk.

And the Sherway location has plans to offer cooking classes.

“The store at Sherway Gardens is a special one: Toronto is one of the only two cities in North America where we have opened more than one location,” Brusò said. “At the same time, we know it’s just the beginning and we look forward to building our story in Canada next year and beyond.”

Brusò told insauga.com the location in Sherway was chosen for its proximity to Mississauga and Oakville along with west Toronto.

While Brusò wouldn’t say if a Mississauga location is in the future, he said Eataly has a plan to open 20 locations in North America.

And they just announced a third Canadian location will open in 2024 at CF Shops at Don Mills.

The goal is to bring delicious food to North America.

“We want to deliver the best Italian experience,” Brusò said.
