TOWARF is looking for rightful owner of a canoe found drifting in Lake Ontario after Monday’s (July 15) torrential downpour in Oakville.
The Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary Unit posted a picture Thursday (July 18) on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) of a green coloured canoe that was found after large 30-metre sections of docks and approximately 20 boats broke loose and drifted downstream on 16 Mile Creek into Lake Ontario.
“During our recent operations in response to the significant flooding in 16 Mile Creek and Oakville Harbour, a canoe was found drifting in Lake Ontario,” said the TOWARF Marine Rescue Unit.
If the unit belongs to you or someone you know, the marine unit is asking that you visit http://towarf.com/contact and complete the form.
“We want to ensure it gets back to its rightful owner,” added the local marine unit.
The freaky rainy weather, which began at noon on Monday, would end up dumping over 75mm of rain in just over 24 hours and causing havoc all across Oakville and the GTHA.
