International artist headlining Canada Day in Brampton

The City of Brampton is ensuring that this year’s Canada Day celebration will offer residents a dynamic look at both local and international talent, as a globally recognized headlining act is set to kick off the festivities.

According to information provided by the city, the event will feature numerous activities for Brampton-area families, including large inflatable rides, games and slides. Additional installations available for residents also include local food vendors, retail stations and a massive fireworks display to conclude the evening.

The main event is slated to take place at Chinguacousy Park on July 1 from noon to 10 pm.

Main-stage performances include acts from the DJ duo MixSignals, Brampton-area musician Ajhani Azure and Punjab hip-hop artist Ikky. However, the main draw for this year is the headliner, as the quadruple-platinum Sri Lankan rapper M.I.A. will be headlining the main event.

“Gather in Brampton, where the spirit of Canada Day ignites with joyous festivities. From exhilarating inflatable rides to delicious delights and captivating local performances alongside headliner M.I.A, Chinguacousy Park will become a vibrant tapestry of celebration. Join us on July 1 as we honour our nation and celebrate as a community,” said Mayor Patrick Brown in an official statement to the press.

Due to the scope of the event, several road closures around Chinguacousy Park will be in effect.

In order to better assist in public transport to the event, the City of Brampton has set up shuttle services to the following locations:

  • Mount Pleasant GO Station
  • Trinity Common Mall
  • Sheridan College
  • Gore Meadows Community Centre
