We live in the future.

We live in the future.

Drone Delivery Canada (that’s exactly what it sounds like–a company that focuses on drone delivery) recently announced that it has partnered with Peel Regional Paramedic Services to develop a first-of-a-kind automatic external defibrillator (AED) delivery by drone program in Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon.

That means that AEDs–electronic devices that automatically diagnose and treat some heart abnormalities–could be delivered to emergency personnel via drones.

As of now, Drone Delivery Canada uses drone technology to deliver a host of goods from depots to depots or depots to consumers.

Can you imagine a drone delivering your latest Forever21 purchase or a life-saving medical device in the event of an emergency?

Like we said, we truly live in the future.

“We are delighted to be working with the Region of Peel,” says Tony Di Benedetto, CEO of Drone Delivery Canada. “We are the only drone delivery company in Canada to successfully test and achieve Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) testing. With this achievement, now, more than ever, we are ready to explore how our technology could augment Peel Regional Paramedic Services’ AED program.”

Drone Delivery Canada says it will work directly with Peel Paramedics to design, prototype and test an AED drone delivery solution using the company’s logistic platform.

Development, prototyping and testing initiatives will be funded by the company.
