Infant’s death under investigation in Ontario

Police are investigating the death of an infant in Ontario.
South Simcoe Police said that early on Friday, officers responded to a medical call involving an infant at a home on Algonquin Avenue in Innisfil.
“The South Simcoe Police criminal investigation bureau is now investigating the incident as an infant death,” police said in a news release Tuesday.
There is no risk to public safety and the scene has since been released, police said.
Police said an investigation is ongoing and it’s expected to be “lengthy.”
Officers didn’t provide further information.
They asked for privacy for those involved “given the highly sensitive nature of the matter.”
“Further details will be provided as it becomes available,” police said.
