A four-month-old baby is dead after a “suspicious incident” in Toronto, police say.
Toronto police said it occurred in the Marlee and Roeselawn avenues area, which is near Allen Road and Eglinton Avenue West.
At around 11:24 a.m., a family member reported that the infant was missing, police said.
“Police quickly responded to a residential building, where the baby was located,” officers said.
The infant was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead.
Further information about the case hasn’t been released by investigators.
“While we recognize this is a tragic situation that raises many questions, no further details will be shared at this time,” police said.
“We want to reassure the public that there is no safety risk.”
Police in Ontario have released information on multiple infant death investigations in recent weeks, two of which resulted in murder charges.
