‘Incident’ under investigation leads to road closures near Brampton-Caledon border

Police are advising residents about an incident near the border of Brampton and Caledon that led to a heavy police presence in the community.
The OPP said shortly after 10:15 a.m. on Friday that officers from the Caledon detachment were in the area of Mayfield Road and Petch Avenue near the border with Brampton.
Few details were immediately available from police but a spokesperson said officers were on the scene “investigating an incident” and there was not believed to be any threat to public safety.
Police said that residents could expect to see a heavy police presence in the area, and some neighbourhood roads were closed but police said that Mayfield Road is still open during the investigation.
“No further details are available at this time,” the OPP said in a statement. “More information will be shared when available.”
Shortly before 2 p.m., police said officers had cleared from the scene but said the investigation is still ongoing.
Police declined to comment of what prompted police to launch the investigation, or what led to the incident.
