A man reportedly chased after people, broke into a home and stabbed a woman in Brampton Thursday night in a random incident that also left a second victim injured, police say.

Peel Regional Police Const. Michelle Stafford told INsauga.com that at around 10 p.m., officers received a call for a “suspicious person” chasing after people in the area of Brisdale Drive and Sandalwood Parkway West.

“It was further reported that the suspect entered a residence, and an altercation occurred,” Stafford said.

“Officers and paramedics arrived and located an adult male with non-life-threatening injuries and an adult female with a non-life-threatening laceration. They were both taken to a local hospital.”

Stafford said the suspect also suffered non-life-threatening injuries prior to officers arriving and was also taken to a local hospital.

A Peel Paramedics spokesperson said that approximately 60-year-old man suffered a head injury and was taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

A woman in her 30s was stabbed and taken to a local hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

A third person was treated at the scene, the paramedics spokesperson said, though Stafford said that individual was the suspect who was in fact taken to hospital.

A 34-year-old Mississauga man has since been charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, break and enter, and choking.

He was held for a bail hearing.
