Ice Storm Update: 10 a.m. – City of Mississauga Operations

The City of Mississauga is working as quickly as possible to address the damage from fallen trees and issues resulting from the recent ice storm.  Residents are asked to be careful if heading out today.  Icy conditions will continue to be dangerous.  Watch for falling branches around trees and for falling ice around buildings. 

New:  Most City facilities are open today, although the situation at each location may change if conditions warrant closure or cancellation of activities.  As a precaution, please call ahead to confirm. Residents are advised to stay away from City parks due to icy conditions and falling tree branches.
 

Warming Centres Open at Civic Centre and Meadowvale Community Centre

Locations: 300 City Centre Drive and 6655 Glen Erin Drive

Warming Centres are open for residents who are without power as a place to stay warm and sleep. They will remain open until noon today.

 

Fallen Trees and Tree Limbs

There are a significant number of fallen trees and tree limbs down throughout the city. Crews are working as quickly as possible. The focus now is to clear roadways and driveways.Residents are asked to please be safe and stay clear of fallen trees, limbs and power lines.  Find out more about the City’s urban forestry program at http://www.mississauga.ca/portal/residents/urbanforestry .

 

Reporting Damage – 311

Residents are asked to call 311 to report damage to or fallen City trees.  Residents can also email [email protected]  to report incidents of non-emergencies regarding City-owned trees on public property.

Power Outages

Natural Gas

Call Enbridge Gas Distribution if you smell gas or to report an emergency such as a damaged pipe or meter visit www.enbridgegas.com/footer/customer-service-updates.aspx .  If you need a natural gas appliance to be relit after power is restored, please contact a heating contractor. Waterways

The Credit Valley Conservation Authority is urging caution around waterways due to icy conditions and potential flooding.  Call 905-670-1615 to report a flood; afterhours, call 1-800-215-8505.  Visit www.creditvalleyca.ca  for more information.
