Hurricane Helene prompts cancellation of 8 flights out of Pearson Airport in Mississauga, Ontario

Florida is bracing for a potentially catastrophic hurricane.
Hurricane Helene is heading toward Florida on Thursday morning, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said on X.
“Helene Strengthening and Expected to Bring Catastrophic Winds And Storm Surge to the Northeastern Gulf Coast. Preparations to Protect Life and Property Should Be Rushed To Completion,” the center said.
Pearson Airport said their specialists are monitoring the hurricane as it makes its way toward Florida. Airports and airlines with Florida destinations are continuing to plan for its arrival.
At least eight flights in and out of Pearson Airport have been cancelled due to Hurricane Helene, Pearson said on X Thursday morning.
“If you’re planning a trip to Florida in the coming days, please check with your airline,” Pearson said.
