Human remains found in rural Niagara Region confirmed to belong to a two-year missing persons case

A critical update has been provided in a human remains case in the West Lincoln area.

Earlier this month on Oct. 9, Niagara Regional Police officers responded to the area of South Grimsby Road 6 and Young Street in the Township of West Lincoln.

Upon their arrival, police were informed by a resident of a possible discovery of human remains, as the resident had found what appeared to be a human jawbone.

After further inspection, officers on the scene confirmed the jaw bone’s validity as human and discovered torn clothes alongside other suspected human remains.

Today (Oct.23), Niagara Regional Police officers have confirmed that the discovered remains were those of missing person Kyle Brocklebank.

Brocklebank went missing on March 24, 2022 in the township of Smithville near West Lincoln.

Police noted that no criminality has been suspected in Brocklebank’s death and there is no current risk to public safety.

The report concluded that — at this time —no further details will be released out of respect for his family and his privacy.
