School bus cancelation system in Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon helps parents prepare for snow days

With winter weather fast approaching, parents in Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon can use online tools to stay informed about school bus cancellations.

Student Transportation of Peel Region (STOPR) has divided Peel into three zones. As weather conditions may only require some bus cancellation in specific areas, not every school bus route in the region will be impacted in the same ways.

STOPR monitors and forecasts bus cancellations in affected zones, letting parents and caregivers know when conditions could compromise the safe operation of buses.

Any cancellations are communicated through the STOPR website, the STOPR twitter account, and on the Peel District School Board and Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board websites and twitter accounts.

Bus cancellations will be in place for the entire school day regardless of changed weather or road conditions.

Here is a breakdown of the Peel Region municipalities by Weather Zone:

  • Zone 1: Mississauga, Port Credit, Meadowvale, Streetsville, Cawthra Park and Malton
  • Zone 2: Brampton, Bramalea and Southfields
  • Zone 3: Alton, Belfountain, Bolton, Caledon East, Caledon Village and Palgrave

Parents can find out what zone their child’s school is in by logging into their student portal under the ‘Weather Zone’ tab with your student’s bussing information.
