Hotel cancels booking made a year in advance for the solar eclipse in Niagara Falls, Ontario

With the upcoming total eclipse right around the corner, countless individuals from all over the province and country are scrambling to lock in their desired destination. However, recent reports indicate that certain accommodations in the Niagara Falls region have scrapped reservations booked a year in advance for the event.
Niagara Falls is one of the primary locations in Canada set in the eclipse’s path of totality — the path in which the eclipse is most visible — and as a result, numerous hotels are fully booked in the days leading up to April 8, the date of the eclipse.
One location has been seen a downpour of complaints online, as several individuals who booked a room for the big day, were allegedly notified that they would have to look elsewhere. According to reviews on Tripadvisor, the Wyndham Garden Fallsview Hotel in Niagara Falls abruptly cancelled numerous reservations this past week.
“I called the hotel and they said they’d cancelled a lot of reservations that weekend to resell them to a large group,’ said one review by a user named Katherine W. “We had the foresight to book these rooms a year ago for the eclipse and it’s in bad faith to cancel them now you’ve realized you can make more money off them.”
Additional reviews have also appeared which stand in solidarity with those who have allegedly lost their bookings.
“The hotel is cancelling reservations made a year ago so they can book groups for the eclipse at exorbitant prices. Wyndham, you’re getting dragged through the mud on Reddit currently, so I suggest you do the right thing and honour your existing reservations,” read another review by the user Richard H.
