Three men and a youth face charges in connection with an early morning home invasion in Mississauga’s west end in which the homeowners were roused from their sleep and forced to hand over the keys to a pair of luxury vehicles parked in the driveway.
The victims weren’t physically injured as a result of the Wednesday morning incident, which police say took place at about 5 a.m. when several culprits forced their way into the Ninth Line/Tacc Drive area home, north of Highway 403 and west of Winston Churchill Boulevard, and confronted the people inside.
Central Robbery Bureau investigators with Peel Regional Police said once inside the home, the intruders wasted little time in making their demands known.
“Fearing for their safety, the victims turned over the keys and the (intruders) drove away,” police said in a news release on Thursday. “Fortunately, none of the victims involved sustained any physical injuries as a result of the robbery.”
A short time later, a coordinated search that included patrol officers, robbery investigators, tactical unit officers and police dogs led police to a home not far away in Oakville.
Following a foot pursuit, three young men and a youth were arrested, police said.
Both stolen vehicles were recovered, along with a third vehicle that had been stolen in a Toronto carjacking last Thursday, police added.
Jordan Tower, 18, of Mississauga, Jelani Griffith, 20, of Brampton, and a 17-year-old male, also of Brampton, face charges that include robbery, disguise with intent and possession of property obtained by crime.
Jordan Stanley, 20, of Burlington, is charged with possession of stolen property.
Tower was also charged with failing to comply with a release order. Police say he was bound by a previous court order at the time of Wednesday’s home invasion.
The 17-year-old Brampton youth cannot be identified under the Youth Canada Justice Act.
Police said more charges are anticipated as the investigation continues.
