There are plenty of opportunities to test your mettle with the pedals at Bike Month events starting this weekend in Brampton.

Bike Month might officially kick off on June 1 but the City of Brampton is getting the festivities going early with the Brampton Bicycle Festival this Saturday at Chinguacousy Park. The event is open to riders of all ages and experience levels and will be a celebration of active transportation in Brampton.

The following week will see the 10th-annual Bike the Creek event with rides ranging from a 5 km family-friendly course to the 71 km Regional Ride. Over 1,500 riders took part in 2023 for the community-driven ride to promote the benefits of cycling to create healthier and more sustainable communities.

There’s also Bike to Work Week from June 16 to 22 with the city encouraging residents to ride a bicycle to work if they are able. Local employers can support Bike to Work Week with a swag pack for employees courtesy of the city.

Brampton also has more than 40 km of guided and paved trails throughout the city for riders, hikers and more to explore.

“As someone who loves to ride my bike, I encourage everyone to participate in Bike Month this year,” Coun. Rowena Santos said in a statement. “Not only is it a great way to get active, but it allows you a new and healthy way to get around Brampton.”
