Hit-and-run shuts down major Mississauga roadway

A stretch of roadway in Mississauga was closed late Wednesday after a motorist struck a pedestrian and drove away.
Eastbound Lakeshore Road was closed between Hampton Crescent and Caven Street shortly after 10 p.m. for an investigation by the Peel Regional Police. The police say that one person was “taken to (a) trauma centre with critical injuries.”
The Ontario Highway Traffic Act states that any motorist who is involved in a collision, even if they are not at fault, is required to remain at the crash scene.
The Peel police have yet to issue a description of the vehicle that the driver was operating. They are asking any witnesses to contact police.
