A pharmacy chain with stores across the GTA is celebrating its centennial and a history that started in Mississauga and Brampton.

First opening in the Village of Port Credit in 1924, Hooper’s Pharmacy and Vitamin Shop is a local institution.

Hooper’s was a pioneer and innovator of complementary medicine and compounding integration, becoming the first compounding pharmacy in the country in 1986.

The original Hooper’s store on Lakeshore Road was opened by Lawrence J. Hooper after graduating from the Ontario College of Pharmacy in 1923.

Currently located in the historic Dominion Bank building which opened in 1948 in Mississauga, the building recently received historic status and has been the home of Hooper’s Mississauga location since 2003.
