QEW lane closures in Mississauga.

Several lanes and ramps on the QEW in Mississauga and roads next to the busy highway will be closed or partially closed to traffic during the late-night and overnight hours in the coming days and weeks as work continues on the highway bridge over the Credit River.

Officials with the QEW/Credit River Improvement Project overseeing the major bridge rehabilitation work said in an email update that two eastbound lanes between Erin Mills Parkway and Hurontario Street will close from as early as 10 p.m. on some nights to as late as 7 a.m. the following morning starting Friday and continuing for two weeks until Aug. 9.

The lanes will shut down from as early as 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning on Monday through Thursday nights, according to project leaders.

On Friday nights, the closures will be in place from midnight until as late as 7 a.m. and on Sunday nights the lanes will be closed from as early as 11 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning.

Although no lane closures are planned for Saturday nights, motorists should know the situation could change.

Meanwhile, QEW eastbound on- and off-ramps at South Sheridan Way will be closed from as early as 11 p.m. to as late as 8 a.m. on Friday, July 26 and July 28 through Aug. 1.

A couple of partial road closures are also on tap for routes next to the QEW in Mississauga, according to officials.

Mississauga Road, from South Sheridan Way to the QEW westbound off-ramp, will be reduced by a single lane through Aug. 2 between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Officials said two-way traffic will be maintained at all times under flagging conditions and access to/from Mississauga Crescent will be maintained as well.

Also, Premium Way, from Stavebank Road to Dickson Road, will be partially closed starting next Thursday and continuing until Aug. 30.

That section of road will be down to a single lane each weekday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., according to officials. There will be no lane restrictions on Saturdays and Sundays.

On weekdays, two-way traffic will be maintained at all times as will access to Dickson Road and Lynchmere Avenue.

Additionally, officials noted, there will be no lane closure from noon on Friday, Aug. 2 until noon the following Tuesday to allow for easier access over the Civic Holiday long weekend.

Temporary nighttime/overnight closures and other restrictions have been commonplace since 2022 both on the QEW and nearby roads due to the massive bridge project that began nearly three years ago.

More traffic disruptions are anticipated as work continues in the coming weeks and months. Night and weekend work along the 2.6-km stretch of the QEW from Hurontario Street to Mississauga Road, and beyond, is expected to impact traffic for the duration of the project.
