Heritage plaques are deteriorating in Mississauga

Mississauga heritage plaques are important place-markers in the city but many have faded over time.
Heritage Mississauga has launched a campaign to replace some of these damaged plaques.
“Mississauga’s History is Fading – Heritage Mississauga is planning to replace deteriorating heritage plaques around Mississauga for GivingTuesday (Nov 29),” Heritage Mississauga wrote in a tweet.
Heritage Mississauga has helped create more than 70 plaques in Mississauga. The plaques mark the location of significant events, illuminate the underlying meaning of sites and buildings, and keep the memory of notable figures and community members alive.
“Keeping social memory alive contributes to community awareness and pride,” Heritage Mississauga notes.
Unfortunately, plaques installed over a decade ago now need replacement due to weather damage. They hope to raise $10,000 for the cause.
Those interested in donating to help replace these plaques can contribute through the Canada Helps website.
