The headlining performer for the big Mississauga New Year’s Eve 2023 bash has been announced.
The city holds an annual New Year’s Eve party in Celebration Square but this year’s plans are bigger than ever.
To kick off the City of Mississauga’s 50th birthday celebration, the city has an “extra big party planned,” saugaLIVE announced on Instagram.
Canadian music legend Shawn Desmond is set to headline the show.
Desmond, who was born in Mississauga, shot to fame after the release of his first album in 2002. The self-titled album featured three top ten singles — Shook, Spread My Wings and Get Ready.
In July 2022, Drake encouraged Desmond to continue creating music after he performed at Drake’s All Canadian North Stars concert at OVO Fest. A few months later he released a new single called Maniac.
Desmond will be joined by R and B sensation Shay Lia and Afro-beats rising star Nonso Amadi.
The evening entertainment doesn’t end there.
There is also an “extreme snowmobile show” planned featuring international freestyle athletes performing stunts and tricks 40 feet in the air in the middle of Celebration Square.
And a huge fireworks show will cap off the evening.
The event is free and kicks off at 8 p.m. on Dec. 31 at Celebration Square, 300 City Centre Dr.
