The rebate’s goal is to help Ontarians with rising costs by putting money back into their pockets.
The Ontario government says its promised $200 rebate cheque is coming soon.
Funds will arrive by mail for all those 18 years of age and older as of the end of 2023. You don’t have to apply for the money, it will be delivered if you have filed 2023 income tax by the end of this past December. Families will receive an additional $200 for each child under the age of 18.
About 12 million adults and two million children are expected to receive the funds which is expected to cost the provincial government $3 billion.
Ford has been accused by his critics of using the cash to grab the attention of voters who could head to the polls this year. The premier, however, has dismissed those claims saying he is doing what is best to help the people of Ontario get through difficult times.
Ministry of Finance officials say eligible Ontario residents should expect the funds starting by the end of January or early February at the latest.
