With the costs of travel rising, a vacation closer to home could be a budget saver.

Compared to this time last year, there has been an eight per cent spike in airfare prices, a two per cent increase in hotel prices and 18 per cent surge in rental car costs, according to a report from travel search engine Kayak.

Travelling domestically could help save money and there are tons of exciting destinations in Canada.

From west coast adventures in wild British Columbia to scenic drives in the east coast — there are plenty of things to do and see across the country.

For those looking to explore a new part of Canada, Kayak compiled a list of the cheapest places to fly in Canada this Canada Day long weekend.
