Hells Angels gang members arrested after assault and robbery in Hamilton: police

Five motorcycle gang members, four of whom belong to the Hells Angels and one the Red Devils, have been arrested after an assault and robbery in Hamilton, police say.

Ontario Provincial Police said that on July 4, an assault occurred at an establishment in Hamilton and during the assault, the victim was robbed.

The OPP’s biker enforcement unit and the Hamilton Police Service began investigating the incident.

Officers then executed search warrants on Aug. 21 at the homes of the accused, as well as at the Hells Angels and Red Devils club houses in Hamilton, police said.

“As a result of the search warrants, police seized four shotguns, three rifles, a shotgun barrel, ammunition, body armour and a Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL),” OPP said.

Grimsby resident Joel Rollin, 41, Ancaster resident Trevor Pittman, 34, and Brantford resident Daniel Fish, 36, have each been charged with assault causing bodily harm and robbery, police said.

Hamilton resident William Ashford-Smith, 36, was charged with assault causing bodily harm, robbery, breach of a probation order, and unauthorized possession of a prohibited device.

Jason Hall, 51, of York, was charged with assault causing bodily harm, robbery and breach of firearm storage regulations.

Overall, 13 charges were laid.

“Outlaw motorcycle gangs continue to be involved in violent occurrences throughout our communities,” OPP Det. Insp. Scott Wade of the biker enforcement unit said.

“The items seized and charges laid in this investigation illustrate the importance of remaining diligent in our pursuit to disrupt and dismantle these criminal organizations.”

Each of the accused were released on an undertaking and have a court appearance in Hamilton on Monday.
