Dirt bike crash sends youth to hospital with injuries in Brampton

Residents of a neighbourhood in south Mississauga want to know why there’s a heavy police presence in their area and why officers have blocked off a large section to traffic this afternoon.

Peel Regional Police aren’t saying much, only that there is an “active and ongoing investigation” in the Port Credit area of the city.

In a post to social media, police said they initially closed down Port Street between Elizabeth Street and Stavebank Road while they investigated the area.

In an update at 4 p.m., they said they have now closed Elizabeth Street between Lakeshore Road and Port Street in addition to the earlier closure.

Police are telling people to “remain out of the area” until they clear the scene.

Several residents who posted comments online in response to the Peel police post on X (formerly Twitter) pushed police to tell them what’s going on.

One person posted that “residents are concerned.”

Police are also telling motorists to use alternate routes.
