It is going to feel like 40 C as heat warnings are in effect in most of Peel, Halton, Hamilton, and Niagara regions.

According to Environment Canada,  hot and humid conditions are expected to persist from Wednesday (July 25) through Friday, posing potential health risks to residents.

Wednesday is predicted to be the start of the heatwave with temperatures going up to 30 C, according to the weather agency.

Thursday, though slightly cooler, is anticipated to be very humid, with humidex values reaching the high thirties.

Environment Canada says that the intensity of the heatwave is expected to peak on Friday, with humidex values reaching 40 C in many areas.

Heat will continue through the night, as minimum temperatures will remain in the low twenties.

Authorities are urging residents to exercise caution and take necessary precautions during this period of extreme heat and humidity.

“Seek a cool place such as a tree-shaded area, swimming pool, shower or bath, or air-conditioned spot like a public building,” Environment Canada officials suggest.

“Keep your house cool. Block the sun by closing curtains or blinds.”

Additionally, never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle in these weather conditions.

Prolonged exposure to such conditions can lead to heat illness symptoms like dizziness/fainting, nausea/vomiting, rapid breathing and heartbeat, extreme thirst and decreased urination with unusually dark urine.
