A healthcare worker at Brampton Civic Hospital was the first person in the city to receive the COVID-19 vaccine today.
The worker, who was not identified, received the vaccine in front of cameras as Mayor Patrick Brown and Peel’s Medical Officer of Health Dr. Lawrence Loh kept a close watch.
Today, other workers at the hospital are expected to receive the vaccine as it finally gets rolled out into the city that has been one of the hardest hit by COVID-19 in the country.
The general distribution of the vaccine to the public is not expected to begin until April of 2021.
