Head-on crash leads to impaired driving charges for Caledon man: police

Charges have been laid against a man from Caledon after allegedly crashing head-on with another driver while impaired by alcohol, police say.
The crash happened shortly after 5 p.m. on Sunday on Highway 10 near the intersection of Charleston Sideroad, the OPP says.
One of the drivers crashed head-on with another vehicle leading to minor injuries, police say.
While speaking with one of the drivers police say officers discovered one of the drivers was impaired by alcohol.
The 47-year-old male driver from Caledon was arrested and charged with operation while impaired – alcohol, and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
The driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle impounded for seven days.
Police say the accused is scheduled to appear in court in Orangeville on Jan. 16 to answer to the charges.
Officers are conducting mandatory breathalyzer alcohol screening at every traffic stop on GTA highways, including the QEW and Highways 403 and 401.
Police say anyone who suspects a driver of operating while impaired by drugs or alcohol is encouraged to call 911 and report it when safe to do so.
